Jalop/oppo is blocked at school, the reason they give me why is "porn." I've been spending more time over at TTAC and Autoblog (the only other car blogs I know about). I don't like them nearly as much as Jalopnik/oppo.

Your school is fucking retarded. I know that feel.

Aww yiss, love me some '69 Camaro porn!

I read Hooniverse sometimes. It's definitely got a similar atmosphere.

Don't forget Hooniverse and Petrolicious . Not a replacement for Jalopnik, but MILES better than Autoblog.

I forgot about those! Thanks

It's probably 'porn' for the NSFW posts. Which is fair enough in a school, really. What you ought to do is to go to the IT administrator (or whoever is responsible), politely explain that, and that you have no intention of opening any NSFW posts at school, and ask if they can unblock Oppo for you.
There are no guarantees they're even able to unblock it, or that they will if they can, but asking like a responsible adult is the best way to get treated like a responsible adult.

I forgot about Hooniverse, thanks for reminding me!

They probably can't. All of the Gawkerverse (giz, kinja, etc) is blocked.

Fair enough actually. I block Gawker sites whenever I set up a firewall/webfilter. Jalopnik's alright, but the others seem to be magnets for the people who open every email attachment they get and so-on.

My neck hairs were standing up. Then I saw the GTO. I knew there had to be a good reason.

Some of the stuff they restrict access to I find incredibly stupid (photo websites [hard to do a GIS anymore], some Wiki pages [couldn't research heart attacks], and the local drag strip's webpage [also blocked for porn]). I can't really blame them on the Gawker front, some of the stuff posted on Giz is definately NSFW.

If I have a choice, I'd rather just trust people to respect the boundaries of wherever they are. If not, it's not at all easy to set up a sane webfilter. If a photo website has some photos of scantily clad models somewhere, you have to block the whole thing if that's what you're trying to block. And I'm guessing the 'drag strip' is an unfortunate error based on accruing negative points for 'strip' and 'drag' in their other meanings.

Giz has NSFW content?

Not sure if trolling.

Sparf, if you have not figured out that I love GTO's by now...

...And Pontiac's in general.

No that's not what I meant, I didn't see that the black rear end in that pic belonged to a GTO and thought you had mistaken the Camaro for a GTO due to the orange color.
I'm a bit too quick to jump the gun sometimes.

Not a problem for me, honest mistake. I guess I have a 6th sense for GTO's.

Ever since I owned my 1966 GTO. Bought it somewhere in the early to mid '70's. 389 Tri-power, 4 speed Muncie Rockcrusher, No power anything. 3.73 posi rear.
Paid $1695 for it from a used car dealer. One of these days, I will scan the Polaroids I have of it and post.
Also had a 1969 Catalina and a 1978 LeMans.
